CCVT Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper Position Available

Churches of Christ in Victoria and Tasmania is a movement of around 130 churches and agencies who are committed to being a “movement of the people and of God gathering in and around the central figure of Jesus Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit, living out his way in our neighbourhoods, and inviting others to do the same”. The movement of Churches of Christ in Victoria and Tasmania is overseen by Churches of Christ in Vic & Tasmania (CCVT), an incorporated entity tasked with promoting the goals and supporting the communities that comprise our movement.  

A great opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Accountant / Bookkeeper to join the finance and accounting team in a full or part-time (minimum 22.8 hours) capacity. Working as part of a small and friendly team, both on site and remotely, your responsibilities will include:

  • Transactional – Accounts payable (processing of bills and invoices, credit card reconciliation), Accounts receivable and bank reconciliations
  • Payroll – Maintenance of employee payroll information, prepare pay-runs in Xero, payment of Superannuation Guarantee Contributions, Workcover annual reporting, Single Touch Payroll (STP) lodgement with ATO.
  • Accounting (Financial & Management) – Management of asset register, assistance with financial reporting, annual budgeting and forecasting.
  • Compliance – BAS returns to ATO, assistance with annual audit process.
  • Any other duties as required such as record management and assist with process improvement.

The successful candidate will be tertiary qualified in accounting/finance/business or similar and is progressing towards a CA/CPA designation. The candidate will have a track record of experience in financial reporting and general ledger maintenance.  Experience with the Xero accounting software is preferred but not essential. Strong communication skill is required for internal and external stakeholder management.
