Maryborough Church of Christ | Senior Pastor Position Available

Maryborough Church of Christ (MCC) is seeking a Senior Pastor to lead our growing congregation. The ideal candidate will possess a love for teaching and a strong desire to help others grow in their faith. Responsibilities will include leading and preaching at weekend services, providing pastoral care to members, and church growth. Additionally, candidates should have a strong background in Biblical knowledge and the ability to apply it to everyday life.

Character, culture, and forming relationships are essential for MCC and will be considered in the search for a new pastor. The ideal candidate should be able to mentor and disciple using a biblical approach while fostering fellowship among church members. They should be approachable, dedicated to the Lord, and have a vision for church growth, embodying biblical principles and leadership skills. The pastor should be equipped to discuss political issues as they relate to the church and possess the capability to apply biblical teachings to the contemporary setting. Additional desirable qualities include practical and life experience, being well-read, relatable, and able to attract a diverse group of ages and demographics to grow the local gospel community.

To be considered for this position, you should have:

  • Alignment with MCC’s reformed evangelical beliefs with theological education preferred
  • Ministry experience e.g. experience in preaching, leadership and pastoral care
  • A passion for investing in the next generation of leaders through mentoring and discipleship
  • A willingness to support and actively involve members in the church’s activities
  • the successful candidate will need to be able to be accredited as a Churches of Christ Vic/Tas minister.

As the pastor of MCC, you will be responsible for:

  • Preaching expository sermons using a biblical approach
  • Providing pastoral care to members of the congregation with the help of eldership and board members if needed
  • Investing in the elders, young leaders, and the saints through mentoring and discipleship
  • Supporting current ministries such as prayer meetings and Bible studies
  • Facilitating and assisting with leading outward and mission-focused activities
  • Considering new directions of ministry such as a youth-focused ministry, community outreach, a pastoral care team, and a Sunday School

MCC will financially support the pastor at .7FTE (per CCVT renumeration) as well as through prayer, practical assistance, encouragement, open communication, and being considerate of the minister’s family. They also want to avoid any actions that may undermine the trust or overload the minister.
