Compliance and administration have become significant parts of the local ministry. However, we (you and me as CCVT) don’t want our leadership pathways to be measured by compliance. Some might argue this is simply bureaucracy gone mad, government and head office overreach.
The Royal Commission of recent years has shown that our churches have not been as diligent in compliance as we could be. We want to be examples of best practices for healthy, life-giving, mature, and God-honouring relationships to be a blessing in our communities. We want to provide healthy protection and accountability through compliance in the healthiest expression of autonomy (interdependence) so the local church can express the Kingdom of God in their local culture and context.
I suggest this is a matter of the heart. Accreditation expresses our partnership, identifying the part we all play in the Churches of Christ movement. Sure, there is frustration with forms and checks. There can be confusion and miscommunication. This is true in our local churches and agencies as much as in the movement. The best compliance and administration isn’t just ticking boxes. Accreditation in its best form won’t hinder but release us to serve with greater freedom in a relationship, providing pathways for local people to explore their call safely and meaningfully.
