Incorporation Guidelines

CCVT recently provided a guide to incorporation and a draft template constitution for Victorian churches seeking to become incorporated associations. Those wishing to become companies limited by guarantee (especially if operating in multiple states), or Tasmanian churches wishing to incorporate, should discuss their needs separately. Remaining unincorporated is no longer recommended due to increased uncertainty of insurance cover and employment permissions as well as increased litigation risks to members. The draft constitution, which we encourage your feedback on, seeks a schedule of items to be locally decided but specific production of a final version should be done with legal advice (which will be more expensive the more changes that may be required). Accounting support may also be needed in completing an application to incorporate via Consumer Affairs Victoria.
