Position Details

Montrose Church of Christ is seeking a passionate and collaborative Families Pastor to help children and families grow in faith. This part-time leadership role focuses on strengthening and coordinating our children’s ministries while building meaningful connections with families and supporting parents as key faith influencers. Working within an established volunteer-led structure, you will provide vision, support, and pastoral care while fostering environments where children can grow as followers of Jesus.

This is a two-year appointment with annual review and the possibility of reappointment. Salary and benefits will be in line with Churches of Christ Victoria and Tasmania (CCVT) recommendations and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Ministry Leadership

  • Offer vision, direction and coordination for children’s ministries appropriate to a 2–3 day role
  • Plan and oversee age-appropriate, engaging discipleship programs
  • Lead actively while empowering and delegating to volunteers

Support Pastoral Care & Discipleship

  • Provide pastoral support to children and families within part-time capacity
  • Encourage spiritual growth through teaching, mentoring, prayer and example
  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Pastor and Elders on pastoral matters

Lead & Develop Volunteers

  • Recruit, train and support children’s ministry volunteers
  • Foster a healthy, safe and sustainable team culture
  • Partner with the Child Safety Officer to ensure compliance with Safe Church requirements

Strengthen Family & Community Engagement

  • Partner with parents and carers as key faith influencers
  • Maintain visible and approachable relationships with families
  • Identify realistic outreach and engagement opportunities within the scope of the role

Administration & Collaboration

  • Manage essential planning, communication and administration
  • Participate in staff meetings and key church events as agreed
  • Provide reports and maintain alignment with church leadership

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in children’s ministry (church context preferred)
  • Formal theological, ministry or teaching qualifications desirable

General

  • Current Victorian Working With Children Check
  • Completion of CCVT Safe Church Awareness Workshop (within 6 months of appointment)
  • Availability for Sunday services
  • Willingness to become an active and engaged member of the church community
