Community Engagement Programs
At CrossCulture Church of Christ Point Cook, we are committed to serving our community through two vital programs: Point Cook Foodbank and English Corner.
Point Cook Foodbank
Launched in September 2020 during the pandemic, our Point Cook Foodbank responds to food insecurity, which has affected many due to job losses and rising living costs. We understand that some families may struggle to put food on the table, so we offer free fresh produce (vegetables, fruit, and bread) as well as dry goods to support those in need. We distribute over 1,000 kilograms of food every session, ensuring that those facing tough times are met with care and compassion. Everyone is welcome—no questions asked. The Point Cook Foodbank is open every Sunday from 1 pm to 2 pm during Victorian school terms.
English Corner
Our English Corner program offers conversational English classes for adults. Many of our students are grandparents who have moved to Australia to support their children, as both parents often need to work due to the rising cost of living, leaving no one to care for the children. These grandparents, however, often don’t speak English and can feel lonely and isolated in a foreign country. English Corner helps them connect with others while teaching them new language skills, giving them the confidence to communicate in English and engage with life in Australia. This not only helps them build relationships but also boosts their confidence as they adapt to living here.
We run three classes to accommodate various levels of English ability. Classes are held every Monday from 10 am to 12 pm during Victorian school terms, and all adults aged 18+ are welcome.
