Hobart Clothing Hub, a major project of Hobart City Careworks Inc., was established in 2021 by the Hobart City Church of Christ to support the needs of the Southern Tasmanian community.
Hobart Clothing Hub is proud to be a key charity partner of Thread Together, an organisation founded in 2012 by Andie Halas to tackle the environmental impact of fashion waste. With one-third of new clothing ending up in landfill and one in eight adult Australians lacking access to essential clothing, Thread Together bridges this gap. In collaboration with charity partners, it provides brand-new, surplus clothing to people in need—restoring dignity and offering new clothes for new beginnings.
Working with over 80 service providers, we facilitate access through our:
- Clothing hub in Hobart’s CBD which offers a warm and welcoming, retail-like experience where guests choose a limited number of clothing items during a private appointment arranged through service providers.
- Mobile wardrobe van, generously provided by Thread Together, which brings new clothing to regional communities in partnership with local services.
- Site wardrobes, installed in-house in women’s and homelessness shelters and other settings in Southern Tasmania giving residents immediate access to clothing.
